Enrolling into Medicare and finding a Medicare Supplement plan can be confusing, but if you will use my “Route 65 Savings BADGE” your journey will be easy! It does not cost you a penny to use my Medicare expertise to help you navigate the Medicare maze, but it could cost you a lot of time and money if you travel this road on your own and get lost.
The BADGE is a simple acronym to help you remember the steps required to sign up for Medicare and then find a supplement plan at the lowest possible cost. My short entertaining video above explains each step and when to do them. Once you are done watching the video you can click on any of the topics below for more detailed information.
The first thing you must do is enroll in Medicare Part B. You can do this by contacting Social Security at (800) 772-1213 three months before you turn 65 or apply online. Part B provides necessary services including doctor’s services, lab, and diagnostic services, preventive services, chemotherapy, radiation, dialysis and more. Most people will pay $170.10 each month for Medicare Part B.
You will automatically receive your Medicare Part A card a few months before you turn 65. Part A has no premium as long as you or a spouse has worked 40 quarters (10 years) over your lifetime in the United States. Part A coverage includes inpatient hospital coverage and skilled nursing facility coverage after a hospital stay.
Medicare Part D is prescription drug coverage. To enroll in a Texas Medicare Part D plan, you can simply go to www.medicare.gov and enter your current medications. It will show you the Part D plans that will be the most cost effective for you based on your medications. Then simply sign up for the plan you want.
Texas Medicare Supplement Plan G is one of the most popular and cost-effective plans. It covers almost all of the gaps in Part A and B except for the Medicare Part B deductible of $233.00.
